22/11/2024 0 Comments GEORGE GRANT CONCLUDES 2024 CAMPAIGN WITH SUPER RACE OF REMEMBRANCE CLASS VICTORYGeorge Grant capped off a memorable 2024 racing season with an excellent performance at the Race of Remembrance, taking fourth overall and C Class victory at Trac Môn Anglesey Circuit. Competing alongside Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 SuperCup teammate Will Blackwell-Chambers and team owner Rob Boston, the trio qualified on class pole and in seventh overall ahead of the 12-hour race. Up against stiff competition in the C Class, Grant and his teammates battled hard, performing strongly and consistently to hold the lead in the category. A penalty for their nearest rivals eased the pressure in the latter stages, with Grant putting in a fantastic final stint to clinch fourth overall and a comfortable victory in class. The Race of Remembrance was an idea initially discussed between event organiser James Cameron and Anglesey Circuit manager and former Scots Guards Officer Jon Earp at the 2014 Autosport International Show. The pair explored what could be done to bring the Motorsport and Forces communities together to celebrate the Remembrance weekend, resulting in the inaugural event later that year. The link to donate to the Race of Remembrance fundraiser can be found here. The event is held annually at the 3.389-km circuit, which was once the site of the Ty Croes Army training camp. The weekend includes the now-famous 12-hour endurance race, as well as a remembrance church service on Sunday morning to commemorate the sacrifices and bravery of those in the Armed Forces. The event brings an end to a brilliant series of racing for the Kingston-upon-Thames racer, who found success in every series he raced, including a class title in the PBS Brakes SuperSport Endurance Cup, class victories in the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup and a podium in the Algarve Classic in October. George Grant: “I’m delighted to have taken class victory at the Race of Remembrance and to end my season on a positive note. It was great to be joined by my Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 SuperCup teammate Will Blackwell-Chambers and team owner Rob Boston, who leant a hand to help out with the maximum driving time rules. There were some really quick guys in our category, but we didn’t put a foot wrong the whole race, driving consistently competitive lap times to comfortably take the class win and an incredible fourth overall! I’m delighted with my 2024 season, I feel like I’m improving at every event and can’t wait to get back on track next year.
“As always, it was a privilege to attend this event and a big thanks goes out to James Cameron for organising the weekend. It’s humbling to remember the sacrifice so many men and women have made for our freedom and the beautiful church service on Sunday morning honoured them in the perfect way. It was also fantastic to sponsor the event and give back to the Mission Motorsport charity, with the Clapham North MOT logo visible on every car in the field.” James Cameron: “The tenth running of the Race of Remembrance was the most spectacular yet, with the largest grid and a very poignant service. The racing was exemplary and a huge congratulations to all of our class winners, including George and his team, who did a fantastic job throughout the event. I also want to thank George and Clapham North MOT for partnering with the event, the support is much appreciated and we hope to work together again in the future.”
